ANTHROPOLOGY (*).

Regarding the science that deals with the biological and social aspects of man, it can be concluded that the Canary Islands, throughout history, have been a source of curiosity for many, especially for those lucky enough to have travelled to them.

In this way, their chronicles, notes and in some cases, their studies and research are important points of reference in anthropological research due to the descriptions of lifestyles, political and social organisation, religion, and economy.

According to the official cultural page of the island, the difficulty in reconstructing the history of anthropology in the archipelago resides in the fact that even though there is vast documented information, this science is not established on theories, focuses or research strategies, but has depended upon the subjects that each author has considered interesting. Summarising, there is no history of anthropology of a determined time period or of trends of ideas or theories in the archipelago.
